Manifesting with the Law of Attraction

The book the Secret by Rhonda Byrne brought the law(s) of attraction to mainstream media attention. Everyone from Larry King and Ellen DeGeneres to Oprah covered the book during it’s heyday in 2006.

Paris Hilton even mentioned the book saying, “The Secret such an amazing book. This is my third time reading it. I really do believe in it.” But, does this “law of attraction book” really work?

On the surface, it seems like as Paris said, “such an amazing book.” But the problem with the Secret is that it just glosses over what is a very powerful set of universal laws.

It’s Not Magic

It makes it sound like all you have to do is apply a little positive thinking and poof all will be right in your life. It’s not magic. The eleven universal laws that encompass the law of attraction are based on ancient knowledge and quantum theory.

Some people choose to label the laws as self-help hogwash. Those who do are generally looking for instant success without be willing to do the “work.” They’re likely trying to use the laws of attraction to get rich quick and easy. And when it doesn’t happen on their schedule they say it’s hogwash. Well, far from it!

The difference between most other self-help programs and choosing to apply the laws of attraction consistently to your life is that these universal laws are working whether you choose for them to or not.

Applying these universal laws consistently enough to change your life takes commitment and practice. You must be willing to do what most people won’t…take responsibility for the life you’re leading.

You can no more stop the laws of attraction from influencing your life as you can gravity. These laws are ever-present, ever-attracting things into your life whether you want them to or not.

There are eleven essential universal laws that govern our existence here in this place.

* The Law of Thinking
* The Law of Supply
* The Law of Attraction
* The Law of Receiving
* The Law of Increase
* The Law of Compensation
* The Law of Non-Resistance
* The Law of Forgiveness
* The Law of Sacrifice
* The Law of Obedience
* The Law of Success

Bob Proctor believes the other “ten forgotten laws” are just as important to success as is the law of attraction. When all eleven laws are learned and consistently applied in ones life, amazing things can be realized.

But it seems that the law of attraction is the one most people focus on. It states that which is like unto itself is drawn. Or like attracts like. But it’s much more complex than that.

The law of attraction is not just notion. It traces, in theory, to quantum physics. One of the things that Quantum Physics sets out to prove is that thought influences everything down to tiniest electron.

Albert Einstein’s E=mc2 is the basis for quantum physics. Einstein realized that matter and energy are just different forms of the same thing. They’re interchangeable at the molecular level. Matter can be transformed into energy, and energy into matter.

In addition, quantum theorists have run multiple experiments that prove that when one observes an electron and there is a preconceived idea where it might go, they found that where they expected it to go is just where it went.

This combined with Einstein’s theory has huge implications. If at the molecular level, matter and energy are interchangeable and thought can be used to influence it then it’s not such a leap to theorize that we create the world around us at the subatomic level based on our thoughts, expectations, and beliefs.

And perhaps that’s the way the world was meant to be. But as we “de-evolved,” we stopped using the parts of our self that made this possible. Modern science estimates that we only use a very small portion of our brain’s capacity perhaps roughly 10%.

If this is the case then maybe that other 90% can actually be cultivated through a mind-soul connection to manifest our very desires. Being able to make this kind of connection to the soul is what the law of attraction really is about.

For instance, the Yogis of Tibet exhibit phenomenal feats that seem simply unimaginable to other humans. Such as the art of putting themselves into such deep trances that, they are able to control the speed at which their own hearts beat.

Or, the practice of Tahumo where these very human men subject themselves to brutal conditions by sitting naked in below zero temperatures and drying wet towels on their backs. They are able to concentrate so completely that they generate enough intense body heat to complete this task.

It’s obvious that they have been able to tap into portions of their mind that the average person doesn’t use. It’s been stated if one can do it then all can do it. Meaning maybe using our thoughts and feelings to manifest our desires isn’t such hogwash after all. It’s just a matter of making that mind-soul connection.

Law of Attraction in Religion

The mind-soul connection theory has existed long before quantum physics was ever a thought. All eleven universal laws have roots in ancient religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Kabala, as well as Christianity.

However, what we understand as modern day Law of Attraction is based on the New Thought movement of the early 1900’s. The New Thought movement is a collection of ideals that emphasis there is one absolute Universal Consciousness-God or creative intelligence.

In New Thought God exists as a presence not a being. This presence is omnipresent. God exists everywhere continuously and simultaneously throughout the whole of creation. And God manifests in essence in all of us.

New Thought believes that through meditation, prayer, and positive thinking you can access the universal consciousness or God force that lies within you. And this is the true nature of all. To become one with the God force that equally encompasses all of us.

Connecting with the God force allows us to live a more fulfilled happy and peaceful life. Once you’ve connected to this stream of consciousness anything is possible. Including manifesting your deepest desires based on your core beliefs and connection with the God force.

And from these very theories is where the modern day version of the laws of attraction was born. Whether you’re a believer or a skeptic isn’t living a happy, peaceful, and fulfilled life all you want? Think about it and it just might happen.

How serious do you think people take the law of attraction.? Just because the word ’law’ is mentioned doesn’t mean people are equating this ‘new age’ belief as credible truth.

We are living the days were the mottos, ’rules are meant to be broken’, has exceeded popularity and moved well into what many probably consider a normal way of functioning and interacting with one another. In taking a closer look into the making of laws, we can see how manmade laws tend to change according to the times. This may be the offset of why there has been so much progressive unruliness from the masses over the years. However, in mentioning the law of attraction, we aren’t referring to any manmade laws or even laws made for mankind through divine guidance.

The law of attraction is one of those unchangeable laws where humans don’t get to choose weather to or not to follow. It helps to know this in order not to fall into trying to work our way around it. Once we get this and fully understand how it effects our lives, it makes perfect sense to start journeying towards putting the knowledge to good use.

We could begin with understanding what other unchangeable rules apply to our lives. In doing so, we find principles, like the law of attraction are also considered unchangeable. However unlike the law of attraction we still can utilize our own wills to decide how much to live by them. In some respect we might consider principles as laws themselves, but nevertheless still avoidable.

Figuring out the relationship between the law of attraction and living by way of principles would be the first baby steps in a new walk of life. The hard part will come in learning how to apply the disciplines necessary for the change(s). This is where practice will make perfect and belief will supply endurance.

Taking the law of attraction serious does in fact dance on the realm of one’s own choice, but it may serve each one of us well to at least investigate the possibilities of what this law implies. Science has proven the law as relevant, spiritual scriptures have taught the law as essential and every generation has been effected by this law regardless. Mastering and harnessing this law can make a phenomenal difference in one’s life. When we master attracting the higher qualities of life, we open doorways for others to explore as well.

You’ve been talking about pursuing your dream since high school. You’ve been stuffing a file with places you’d like to travel since you got your first job. You’ve envisioned what your boutique store would look like for years, even driving around searching for the perfect location, yet you’ve never taken that next step.

So, what’s stopping you?

In my coaching with clients they regularly share the obstacles that are stopping them from moving forward. At least fifty percent of the time, these items are perceived, not real.

Here’s a list of the most popular ones I’ve heard and how to avoid them:

1. I’m too old.

Years ago I heard the story of a 70-year-old woman who lifted a car off her grandchild and saved his life. When she was interviewed, instead of being ecstatic, she was melancholy and admitted that if she could lift a car to save a child what else might she have been able to do that she never tried. The interviewer asked her what she’d always wanted to do, but hadn’t tried. The grandma replied, “Go to college.” The interviewer challenged her, “So why not do it now?” And so she did.

You are only too old if YOU decide you are. There are lots of stories of older Olympians, older singers and older musicians-fields typically associated with youth.

2. It costs too much money.

I have found that most people who make this statement actually have no idea what the item in questions costs. They are operating on some notion that it’s above what they would be willing to spend. Or they are not open to creative solutions and assume that they must pay retail for what they want-be it a new car, travel, or a house. There are many innovative ways to get what you want (and no, they aren’t illegal!)

Don’t make this statement unless you know the exact cost and have made the decision that the cost for the value isn’t there.

3. My spouse/children/parents/etc. wouldn’t like it.

I’m surprised to hear adults say this statement, but I hear it more often than one might imagine. First, you really don’t know how someone will react until you actually take an action. In most cases, you are speculating as to how they would react or assuming they will react similar to ways they have in the past.

Second, are you living your life to make them happy or to make you happy? Of course, if you have a family you need to consider how your choices affect them, but not to the point that if they may be uncomfortable with your choice you give it up without seeking a compromise or resolution.

4. It’s too hard.

This statement is another one that is usually based on incomplete information or full out speculation. You don’t know how difficult something will be for you unless you try it. Nothing is impossible.

Stop pushing what you want away until you decide you don’t want it anymore.

5. I’m too fat.

* “I’m too fat to go out to networking meetings and market myself. Who would want to hire me?”
* “I’m too fat to take professional photos for my website.”
* “I’m too fat to get a date. No one will ever want to marry me.”

Admittedly, I’ve heard these declarations from women far more than men, but a few of my male clients have said it too in reference to why they think they may have gotten passed over for a promotion or not getting hired for a new job.

While I won’t say that weight discrimination may not be at play in some cases, the bigger obstacle is how you feel about yourself.

If you believe that you are fat and feel self-conscious you will present yourself differently. When you aren’t confident and someone else is-they will likely get the date or the job over you.

6. I’m not educated enough.

Bill Gates quit college before earning his degree. There are countless stories of high school children who have opened businesses that have hit a million in sales.

Education doesn’t equal success.

If what you want to do requires a higher level degree than what you possess, figure out a way to get it.

7. I’m too OR I’m not .

Are you seeing a pattern here? Search your language and see if you’re shutting yourself down by believing in a perceived obstacle.

If you are, stop now and go take an action to pursue your dream. These obstacles do not need to stop you from achieving success and fulfillment in life.

Think about the grandma who said that if she could do something she thought impossible at age 70, what else could she have done in her life, then ask yourself, “What could I do if only believed I could?”
