Does the practice of saying affirmations really work?

We’ve all been exposed to the philosophy of using affirmations as part of our personal growth. But have you ever tried them? Most people who have tried using affirmations have done so with mixed results. Some people have trouble with affirmations because affirmations sometimes “feel like a lie”.

And frankly, a lot of people feel that they just don’t work at all. But using affirmations is one of those teachings that just doesn’t seem to go away. A lot of people still believe in them and many respected speakers still preach the use of them.

But there are still some big questions about using affirmations:

1. If they do work, why don’t they work all the time?
2. Is there a proper way to “say” them?
3. How long do I have to wait for what I’m affirming to show up ?

Well, I want to clear away some of the fog about using affirmations.

The key, is that you really need to know how to use them. It is important to first understand what affirmations are really all about.
In a nutshell, affirmations are everything you think, say, believe and feel. So if you’ve ever recited affirmations that just didn’t happen in your life, it’s because there is some conflict between what you are saying and who you are.

Once you come to an understanding of what affirmations are, you need to know how they work. I don’t have enough room in this article to explain it all, but understand that our affirmations directly relate to our energy. Our energy directly relates to the Universe. The Universe relates back to us. So in other words, our affirmations work, based on, (again), who we are.

Are you starting to notice a common thread? You see, the affirmations really have no power in the Universal scheme of things, it is you that has all the power. Affirmations are simply a tool; a tool for influencing you. And you – by way of your energy (or vibrations) and your actions, influence the Universal flow as it relates to your life.

SO WHAT DO AFFIRMATIONS ACTUALLY DO FOR YOU?
Affirmations are truly the key to getting yourself in line with what you want, need and desire in life. You see, affirmations, when used properly, change the way you think. They change the way you look at things; at yourself, your problems, your hopes and dreams. Once you change the way you think, feel and believe – you can then take the appropriate action to manifest your desires.

BUT THERE IS A FLIPSIDE
Affirmations operate in our lives whether we use them or not. If left unchecked, our affirmations are whatever feelings and thoughts are going on inside us. Those feelings and thoughts become our reality. That explains why we wind up with things in our lives that we don’t want, and don’t always get the things we do want. So whether you believe in the power of affirmations or not – they are already operating in your life. That’s why it is wise to learn to understand and use them properly.

1. Before using affirmations, take time to study how and why they work. Once you come to an understanding of them, your affirmations will become much more effective.

2. Using affirmations out of a book are fine, but the most effective ones are the ones you write yourself. When you write your own affirmations – they are you, from your heart and soul. Even if you see a really great affirmations in a book, change it somewhat so that it becomes yours.

3. Write your affirmations so that they are stated in a positive, powerful way.

4. Have a special time and place for your affirmations. Recite them with energy and conviction. Recite them on a regular basis – at least twice a day. And if an affirmation feels stale – tweak it, change it, or trash it and start over.

5. Develop a strong faith to support your affirmations. Without a strong faith, your affirmations have little chance of success.

6. Live your affirmations. Remember when I said that “you are your affirmations”? You have to embody them – live them. And your affirmations have to reflect who you are, how you feel and what you believe.

Affirmations are extremely powerful yet, they are one of the most overlooked techniques for personal growth. This is because most people do not understand how they work. Recently eyes around the world have been opened to the Law of Attraction, commonly known as the Secret. The Law of Attraction states that anyone can have anything they desire by manifesting it through good emotions, thoughts, and feelings. Being able to have anything one desires is akin to like winning the proverbial jackpot, but when many attempt to apply the theories of the Law of Attraction, they tend to hit a wall. It sounds much easier than it actually is.

There are a myriad of methods currently being taught and it can become a bit overwhelming to say the least. Is there an easy way to attract what you desire? Certainly, and to get you started on your personal journey to the Law of Attraction, here are five practical tips to you can personally apply.

BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE FEELING

The Universe doesn’t distinguish between right or wrong, or good or evil. The Universe starts moving toward bringing back to you what you outwardly vibrate. If you are feeling worry, the Universe will put more worry into motion, bringing you situations and people that resonate to the exact vibration that you previously sent. Worrying brings worry back to you; grateful brings more things to be grateful for. It’s as simple as that.

STAY CLEAR AND FOCUSED

Maintaining an image of what you desire and keeping that image clear through repeated focusing does wonders. If you give the Universe a half-drawn picture of what you want, the Universe will fill in the blanks, and it may not be what you intended. If you stay clear and focused, however, the people and situations you truly desire will start moving in your direction. Others will appear in your life that will, perhaps unconsciously, help you. Your vibrations are causing this to happen through being focused and by not swaying.

FOCUS ON THE OUTCOME, NOT THE ‘HOW’

Dwell on your end result. What it is that you want? Don’t worry about how it will get there; let the Universe take care of the in-betweens. This is the Universe at its best. It will give you what you want, but you must allow it to. Now is not the time for micro management. You will see the opportunities as they clearly open up to you. The Universe will give you exactly what you want or something better, always.

ENVISION IT NOW

See yourself in your vision NOW, not in the future or the Universe will comply, keeping your vision in the future. See it now. Feel it now. Hear it now. Sense it now. And be grateful; as if you already have it.

ASK FOR SIGNS, AND LOOK FOR THEM

Look for the signs that the Universe is hearing you, confirming that you are headed in the right direction. Signs are encouragement from the Universe. For example: You desire a new car and you see it and feel it clearly in your mind. Then one day you happen to be walking along and see the car that is the exact color and the make that you have been visualizing; that is a sign that the Universe is saying, “I’m working on it.” BE AWARE of the signs. Most people ignore signs, even when they are huge. And recognize the more subtle signs. Be on alert; they will be there.

These are just a few tips to encourage and move you closer to your heart’s desires, clearly attainable through the Law of Attraction. There is an unlimited supply for all, but if you see limits, you will receive limits. There are enough soul mates, excellent health, dream jobs, and money for everyone. There is an unlimited supply of everything, and you deserve all of it.

Within the last year millions of people world-wide have been introduced to the universal law of attraction. For the benefit of those determined to employ this law to attract their own personal success it is imperative that we clearly understand what activates this amazing power.

The following five principles will give you mastery over the law of attraction.

1. Vibrations: Quantum physics tells us that in it’s true essence, everything is energy. What appears to us to be a solid object is nothing more than energy pulsating or vibrating at a certain rate that creates the appearance we recognize as solid. This is easily proved by viewing solid objects under a strong enough microscope. The only difference between objects then is only in the frequency in which they pulsate or vibrate.

What many people fail to realize is that our thoughts, although not solid or tangible, also emit a certain vibratory frequency that can in fact be measured. Therefore, in order to consciously influence the law of attraction you must first learn how direct or control the vibrations you emit.

2. Emotions: Emotions are the fuel that strengthens the vibrations we emit. In the realm of vibrations, only two distinctions are made, positive vibrations or negative vibrations. Nothing else exist.

Anytime you experience joy, love, bliss or any positive emotion you are sending out positive “vibes.”

Conversely, anytime you experience fear, pain, anger, or any negative emotion you are sending out negative “vibes.” By conscious control of our emotions, we control the “vibes,” which in turn activates and directs the law of attraction. Like attracts like. Positive vibes attract positive vibes. Negative vibes attract negative vibes.

3) Focus: Since thoughts are energy vibrations, it is safe to conclude that scattered thoughts create scattered energy. On the other hand, focused thoughts create focused energy. Concentrated thoughts creates concentrated energy.In order to have a hand in influencing the law of attraction it is important to use focused and concentrated thinking to project the mental energy required to attract our desired outcomes.

4) Belief: Belief is a key component in the formula for successfully directing the law of attraction. If, as we said, emotions fuels and magnify the vibrations we emit, belief then directs those vibrations to attract like results. It is of utmost importance that belief be solidified before we attempt to enhance and direct vibrations. Again, the law of attraction states that like attracts like. And again, there are only two forms of vibrations, positive and negative.This can often be seen when affirmations are so out of touch with reality that the mind refuses to believe them. For instance, if you weigh 300lbs, your mind might not accept the affirmation, “I weigh 175lbs.” An affirmation like that will only create antagonism and doubt within your mind. Your mind will rebel and refuse to accept that blatant lie. This in turn will produce strong negative vibes.By simply rephrasing the your affirmations you can more accurately direct the law of attraction. Choosing your words carefully is extremely important. Changing the words to, “I am in the process of achieving my ideal weight of 175lbs” can mean a world of difference.Another key to remember with belief is that belief and faith go hand in hand. In fact the most common definition of faith is “a sense of certainty, or belief in something not yet seen.” The point to remember is that any goal you wish to attract will require that you apply your faith. The way you apply your faith is by being specific with your communication with yourself, and just as importantly, the actions you take.

5) Action: The final component to activating the law of attraction is action. Ancient wisdom tells us that “faith without action is dead.” No better words describe action’s role in activating the law of attraction.

This one step is probably the most crucial step within this group of five. The five steps are interwoven. They are all connected. However, action is one facet of the equation that is absolutely indispensable.

Action feeds and builds belief. Action helps you sharpen your focus and intensify your emotions. Action magnifies the vibrations you release. Action is key.

I was recently doing a one on one training session with someone in my network marketing organization. I like to take my group and expose them to the laws of attraction. This one particular lady was following four of the five keys we touched on here. Guess which step she was missing?

If you picked action you hit it on the head. Through a series of questions we came to discover that she wasn’t following up with prospects because she believed she would be rejected. That gut level feeling of fear dampened the other four law of attraction activators. Her inaction created negative vibrations, emotions, focus and beliefs.

She turned it all around by taking massive action and acting as if she was a superstar networker. She finally fully activated the law of attraction. Her business turned around and things started to fall in place instantly.

Action is the step that aligns all the other steps. It synchronizes the five steps and moves them as one. It creates the power and momentum to activate and direct this incredible law.

In summary, you are now in possession of the five key activators of the law of attraction. Incorporate these into your life and practice them daily and the you will see miracles manifesting in your life.
