The Law of Attraction and Being in the Now

Copyright 2006 llbglobal

You know recently I have been asking myself what the true meaning is behind perceptions such as the law of attraction or being in the now. I read a lot of material and I consider myself to be a research hog. The thing that I realized is that everything I have learned can easily be brought down to one simple truth. What does the law of attraction really tell us about ourselves? What is the underlying meaning of all this motivational hype? The answer has been in front of me this entire time without my awareness of it.

Although this is only my perspective I feel that the most important message to learn from all of this motivational stuff is to be a good person. Expect more for yourself and know in your heart your true worth. Nobody sets a value on your life but you. Nobody creates your reality but you. So if you create it then you should start making a conscious effort to change it if you are unhappy.

We can make the choice to be a better person. When we decide to do better for ourselves we inadvertently do better for humanity. We are more caring and loving towards the people in our lives. We can use negativity and pessimism as fuel for good, instead of letting it control who we are.

If we stop looking for excuses as to why we are not successful in life then we open the door to a world of endless possibilities. You can make it a difficult decision to be a better person. I know there are many times in my life when I have done just that but at the end of the day you have to ask yourself if you are satisfied with the outcome of your life. If you are unhappy you don’t need to make your life more difficult. You can decide right now to change for the better. Nobody is holding you back except you. We all have to face our daily challenges and we all have the choice to see life from a different perspective.

Take whatever works for you and make yourself a better person. You deserve to be in the light not hiding in the darkness. Take each adversity you have faced and turn it into the power you need to be successful in life. It’s really that simple! Tomorrow when you return to work, do so with a smile. Be kind to your boss and be appreciative of the job you hate. Try to see only positive aspects of the people around you. Do something nice for a stranger. When you start to believe you can live a better life you will become the influence that a child needs. You will be seen as a lucky person. People will look at you with admiration for what you have accomplished in life.

The power of being in the now and choosing to live each moment to its fullest is really your underlying purpose in life. We are only on this Earth for a short amount of time so stop waiting for something to happen and make it happen. Start appreciating each moment of your life and the rewards will be beyond your wildest dream.

Four Guideposts on the Path

These four focal points are a summation of centuries of spiritual wisdom and thought. They can help us shift your focus toward the Good, and liberate us from self-limiting patterns of behavior. Meditating on them can help us move forward on the path.

These are four very powerful statements. Read them here:

1. The Present Moment is the Point of Power.
All you have is the present moment–the present thought. All you have to heal is the present thought. All you have to do is focus on the present moment. The future does not exist. (It is just a thought in your mind. The past does not exist. (It is just a thought in your mind.) This is why the present moment is the point of power.

2. You Are the Cause.
The outer world is not the cause. Past events are not the cause. You are the cause. Your present thoughts are what you demonstrate. This means that today is not mortgaged in the sense that today is not the result of what happened yesterday or of outside events. Rather today is unfolding right now because of the way you are thinking right now. That is why all you have to heal is the present thought.

Shakti Gawain3. No Accusation.
Not only is there nowhere to go and nothing to do, it is important to focus on the fact that each being or form is a Divine creation and has its own integrity and to do everything in one’s power to nurture it and call it forth. This is the true service. This is the true focus on the Good.Accusation and criticism are heavy burdens to the being who carries these belief patterns. When a being drops accusation and criticism, the Spirit/soul is set free in all its glory.

4. The Eternal Now.
The future becomes the prison of past conditioning because we allow it to become so. If the present thought is right, there is never any need to worry about the future. There is no future out there waiting for us. There is only the Eternal Now. The Present Moment is the Point of Power. Future and Past do not exist. All you have to do is heal the present thought.

Are you Taking Accountability for What You’re Attracting?

Even the very word accountability can make the hair stand up on the back of your neck!

Often the word accountability is used in a scolding manner such as “You’re not very accountable!” As a certified NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) practitioner, I’ve learned about the impact of words and I particularly like reframing a words meaning. By reframing I mean to look at a word and its meaning from a different point of view. Consider the following reframe of the word accountability.

The word accountability has two words buried within it – the word account and the word ability. Here is a different definition for the word accountability -

“Accountability: my ability to account for why I’m attracting what I’m attracting”.

Have you noticed when people attract something wonderful into their life they like to brag and celebrate it, and will often say “I attracted this!”; “This is here because of me!”; “I put it out to the Universe, that’s why it’s here”; “I’m an awesome attractor”; “My parking angel brought me this parking spot”. In all of these cases we do have the ability to account for why we attracted it.

Wealth Beyond Reason

Now let’s consider the folks who attract negative or unwanted things to their lives. Here’s what they say. “Why is the

Universe doing this to me?”; “This is not my fault!”; “I don’t deserve this”; “Why me?”

When it comes to attracting negative experiences some people tend to no longer have the ability to account for why they attracted it, yet the reason is the same. They attracted it because they vibrated it!

Often people will ask me “How do I know that I’m getting this Law of Attraction stuff?” My response is “You know when you take full accountability for everything you attract, both the negative and positive!” You don’t have to like it – you just have to own it. So, starting today, when you notice you’ve attracted something you don’t like, you can be more curious about it and say “I must have been offering a negative vibration that caused me to attract this negative experience”, thus having a different emotional response to what you’ve just attracted. Play with this concept today and acknowledge that everything you’ve been attracting is a direct result of the vibration that you’ve been sending.
