7 Tips to Attracting What You Want

We all aspire to be, do and have great things. Yet most of us simply aren’t creating the results we want. We don’t have enough money, romance, success or joy in our lives. But what we need to understand is that greatness exists in all of us. It is simply up to us to pull it out of ourselves. We all have the ability to create the life we want. We just need to learn how to do it. Here are 7 of my top tips to jump-start your success and start “attracting” what you want into your life.

1. Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life
One of the greatest myths that is pervasive in our culture today is that you are entitled to a great life-that, and that somehow, somewhere, someone is responsible for filling our lives with continual happiness, exciting career options, nurturing family time and blissful personal relationships simply because we exist. But the real truth is that there is only one person responsible for the quality of the life you live. That person is YOU.

2. Be Clear Why You’re Here
I believe each of us is born with a life purpose. Identifying, acknowledging and honoring this purpose is perhaps the most important action successful people take. They take the time to understand what they’re here to do-and then they pursue that with passion and enthusiasm.

3. Decide What You Want
One of the main reasons why most people don’t get what they want is they haven’t decided what they want. They haven’t defined their desires in clear and compelling detail… What does success look like to you? Not everybody’s definition of success is the same, nor should it be.

4. Believe It’s Possible
Scientists used to believe that humans responded to information flowing into the brain from the outside world. But today, they’re learning instead that we respond to what the brain, based on previous experience, expects to happen next… In fact, the mind is such a powerful instrument, it can deliver to you literally everything you want. But you have to believe that what you want is possible.

5. Believe in Yourself
If you are going to be successful in creating the life of your dreams, you have to believe that you are capable of making it happen. Whether you call it self-esteem, self-confidence or self-assurance, it is a deep-seated belief that you have what it takes-the abilities, inner resources, talents and skills to create your desired results.

6. Become an Inverse Paranoid
Imagine how much easier it would be to succeed in life if you were constantly expecting the world to support you and bring you opportunity. Successful people do just that.

7. Unleash the Power of Goal Setting
Experts on the science of success know the brain is a goal-seeking organism. Whatever goal you give to your subconscious mind, it will work day and night to achieve…To engage you subconscious mind, a goal has to be measurable. When there is no criteria for measurement, it is simply something you want, a wish, a preference, or a good idea.

In the next several editions of Success Strategies, we will explore each of these tips in depth, with detailed strategies and easy-to-apply action steps to accelerate yourself from where you are to where you want to be.

Letting Go

While sitting with a close friend the other day I heard him say repeatedly. “Well, whatever happens, happens. If it’s meant to be it will be. I’m letting the Universe lead the way.” In Christianity, a similar phrase is said “Not they will but thine O father” I submit to you some insight around the topic of letting go and letting the Universe or God do its thing. To assume that by letting go one is more spiritual is simply not true. Letting the Universe or God have control of our destiny is similar to a leaf blowing in the wind. It is at the mercy of the elements and its environment. It makes no decisions and has no say where it lands. Some people think that life like this is noble. They constantly find themselves in unhappy or in ugly situations and figure that this must be their calling in life and they are being tested by God. They believe God and the Universe keeps throwing crap at them and that they must live through this ordeal by fire until God is pleased with them and they can move on. This is not the way that it works. Your God, your Universe is a place of Love and wishes no one any harm. Would you wish your own children a life of suffering and pain in order to prove that they are worthy of your love? I hope not.

Here are some insights as to when and what not thy will but thine is about. Jesus was an excellent example of following the Divine Will. However, he was one step ahead of most of us. He knew and understood what his life purpose was. His purpose being two-fold
1. To experience life on earth in the flesh
2. To show all mankind that there is eternal life for those who follow the path of Love.

He well understood this. He knew that the decisions that he made would somehow benefit his purpose. He was always focussed on his purpose. I don’t usually speak of Jesus in my Insights, but he is the best example I know of a person who knew what his purpose was on this earth and sought to make it manifest.

Many of us try to be like Jesus and let go of control. Without a clear understanding of our life purpose what we are really letting go of is the willingness to make and carry out our own decisions. I recently read that the worst sin a person can commit is the sin of no decision. I would have to agree with that. We feel that if we let go then whatever happens is meant to happen. And this is not true. You are the one with the power to create whatever it is you want in your life. If your life sucks it is because you created it that way. If your life is awesome it is because you made it that way. God does not punish those that are not on the path. The people punish themselves because they are not in touch with the creative force.

The key to success is working backwards. First discover your life purpose, your calling, your gifts, your strengths, then proceed to do your work. Most people work hoping they can find their life purpose. Before they know it life has passed them by. The key then to letting go is to first know what your life purpose is. Then letting go takes on a new look. It’s letting go with a purpose rather than letting go like a blind fool. When faced with difficult decisions always make a choice Don’t sit back and just hope that the Universe is going to support you. The Universe always supports you. It supports you best when you have made a decision and move forward on that decision. Don’t blame the Universe. Don’t blame God. You are responsible for your own choices. And while that may give some people a sinking feeling, you can choose to revel in the fact that the power is in your hands to change whatever is not working for you. Put away those thoughts of God or The Universe using you as a puppet, pulling your strings. It just isn’t so. You create your own reality. Why not make it one that you cherish?
