Synchronicity of Happiness

I was 3000 miles from home and had an afternoon book signing to do. My morning was free and so the last minute decision was made to go to a meeting on spiritual healing. Unfamiliar with the roads, I was at least 5 minutes late. Another woman was also late. Determination was on our faces. And it was half a year later before the woman, Hannah, and I realized we were determined to meet one another. The meeting was frosting on the cake. Experience and hindsight has taught us, it wasn’t a coincidence of events that brought us together, but a synchronicity of motives.

Our motives still are: to teach our children through love and understanding, to nurture spirituality in our work environment, and help others strengthen their sense of well-being. Hannah and I feel as though we have known each other forever. We can read each other’s mind. Obviously, significant motives are related to meaningful synchronicity. From 21st Century Science and Health, “Existence is happier when our motive is to entertain and form relationships with people who are striving to improve their inner self.”

People are not predestined to shallow relationships or a fickle happiness. We are realizing that we can chose an advancing goodness instead of accept declining joy. An effort is requisite. And it is important to understand what it is we are choosing. We don’t choose our fate. We chose the thoughts and actions that lead to an already existing end result. Hannah and I did not choose to get a friend. We chose to accept and express thoughts of spiritual courage, awareness, happiness, and healing. Because these thoughts are immortal, they are shared. Similar thoughts attract, coordinate, and embrace simultaneously.

A mathematician adds 2+2+2 and gets 6. If the mathematician chooses to get another answer, say 7, effort is needed for a change. Effort is not put into forcing 2+2+2 to be a 7. Effort is not put into inventing a 7 as if it doesn’t exist. Effort is metaphysical; discovering the correct numbers (thoughts) destined to be a 7. Most grand is the fact that there is no restriction in the process. The correct thoughts are not difficult or impossible to come up with. A few examples are 2+2+3, 3+3+1, ½+1/2+6……And the equation that works for someone else isn’t necessarily the one for you, but it will still produce a synchronicity of joy.

Improvement in happiness and health is not restricted to a few set thoughts and actions. Keep in mind the better thoughts that come to your mind. Do not focus on the outcome or try to take on the thoughts of other people. Love you own inspired thoughts.

We are individuals. What is improvement for me may not be improvement for you. I may need to entertain thoughts of patience; you may already have patience and think about flexibility. We each can meditate, receive, and act on immortal thoughts that improve our own situation. Furthermore, the improvement will unite us. Spiritual thoughts are very useful and meaningful. They originate in Love, Truth, and result concurrently in happiness and liveliness.

Thoughts based in fear and unawareness is predetermined to self-doom. Spiritual thoughts are completely different from the wired human thoughts. The two never work together and actually bring confusion. It would be like adding 2+2+a dead log.

To experience a coincidence of events is fascinating; however, a coincidence of spiritual motives is profound, expansive. Life includes happiness which is naturally shared. A synchronicity of spiritual motives will unite, improve, and genuinely impress us and our world. Existence does have meaning, an inspiring, health-giving, happy meaning.

The Law of Attraction…Fact or Fiction?

The Law of Attraction. Is it indeed an undisputed fact, or just wishful thinking? A story of my introduction to the concept may help you decide for yourself . . .

Five years ago, I moved to the outskirts of town to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. I was tired of traffic, and noise, and annoying neighbors and just wanted to get a place where I could stretch out and decompress at the end of a long day.

Boy did that plan backfire. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for what I have but I’m certainly no closer to being able to relax than I was before. I’ve got more grass to cut, no maintenance man to fix leaking faucets and I’ve managed to add a dozen more traffic lights to my commute in the morning and every afternoon than I otherwise had before I moved.

Traffic lights. I absolutely hate them. I catch every single red light no matter what the time of day, no matter the volume of traffic or my observation of the posted speed limits: It just does not seem to matter.

I catch every one, and that is not an exaggeration. I also do not just randomly catch the light either, it’s always just as it’s turning red, thus ensuring the absolute maximum wait time possible.

I was at one of these lights a couple of years back, silently cursing the powers that be and I remember asking myself how was it even possible that I caught every single light every single time I steped into my automobile?

The thought occurred to me that perhaps the devil was tempting me, trying to make me stressed and angry and down right insane. How else to explain this freak of nature? You could not simply chalk it up to sheer luck or coincidence, the odds were just to astronomical to even consider it. There had to be an outside force acting upon me and these infuriating lights.

I remember getting into work that morning and opening up an email from a very dear fiend of mine with an urgent request to open the attachment she had sent along on this new theory sweeping the nation. It was a review of the movie The Secret and an encapsulated discussion on the basic theory of the Law of Attraction.

The rest is history I suppose. I saw the movie, read everything I could get my hands on about this “new” idea, and even attended more than half a dozen seminars on the subject, all because of three little words mentioned in that first email.

Like attracts Like.

You see, the power of this idea did not manifest itself in some silly little affirmation idea or in the form of a check out of the blue that I had convinced myself I was already in possession of. No, it came in quite the opposite way actually. Sitting at stop light after stoplight silently cursing the universe and the powers that be as to why they felt the need to bestow this misery upon my tortured soul day in and day out.

It happened because basically, I commanded it to. Simply asking myself why I hit every red light attracted and manifested that thought into the reality of actually hitting everyone.

The universe was even compelled to go so far as moving me further from my job to allow me to receive even more of what my mind was calling out for.

The universe has no idea that these emotions are good or bad, nor does it care. It simply provides you what you ask it for and the way each and everyone of us ask for things is through our daily thoughts and emotions. Combine the two and you are guaranteed to receive it.

Eventually, through controlled and deliberate thinking, I was able to undo a great deal of the damage done and hit fewer and fewer red lights. The ones I still hit, and am okay with now that I know it’s nothing personal and I’m just probably stuck behind someone with my old thought patterns, I take these opportunities to focus on something that I want to happen in my life and really focus my emotions and intent on acquiring it.

Truth be told, I actually look forward to the red lights now for this very reason and the results have been phenomenal, not to mention what the reduced stress level has done for my overall health and happiness.

It does no harm trying this principle and it could change your life. I don’t know why anyone would resist the idea and possibly miss out on the chance to change their entire world for the better.

Magnetism or Luck? Accident or Design?

Are you one of those people who believe there is no such thing as the law of attraction and all quoted examples of it in action are just a matter of luck or coincidence? Are you one of the people who believe we can attract whatever we want in life through positive energy, like human magnets? There are plausible arguments to be found for both sides in this debate. The only person who can decide which side you will take is you. Do you believe in the power of positive thinking or do you believe life is a series of random occurrences?

Why do some people seem to be so lucky? To put it another way, why does extreme good luck only seem to happen to other people? Is it all about coincidentally being in the right place at the right time or is there more to it than that? Can we bring good fortune to ourselves just by changing the way we think?

As an example, let’s look at the true story of a supermodel. A sixteen-year-old girl has left school with few academic qualifications and has little hope of getting a well-paid job. At the moment she has not been able to find any job at all. She is pretty enough but not striking, she is just an ordinary teenager. While shopping in a supermarket with her mother, she is approached by a talent scout. The girl is introduced to a famous modelling agency and within a few months she is earning an absolute fortune. Her face is on the cover of glossy magazines and on everyone’s TV screen. She travels to spectacular locations to be photographed. She models the latest designer fashions all over the world. Her dramatic rise to overnight fame is featured in gossip columns and on the front page of the tabloid newspapers. She remains one of the most highly paid models in the fashion world for years and eventually retires a very rich woman.

Is this story an example of how pure blind luck works or is there more going on than what we see on the surface? Do you believe the girl just happened to be in the right place at the right time? How likely is it that a talent scout, while shopping in a supermarket, would notice an ordinary-looking girl among the crowds? How much luck would have to be involved for the girl to turn out to be highly photogenic and interested in becoming a model? What makes her so different that she avoids the potential dangers of her glamorous lifestyle? When other girls in a similar situation have succumbed to the temptations of alcohol and drug abuse or have been drawn into unhappy relationships, this girl remained focused on her career and family. She enjoyed every moment of her success and was not damaged by it.

If you believe in the power of positive thinking and the law of attraction you might consider that it was all a matter of magnetism. It could be that this young girl, who had always dreamed of a glamorous lifestyle, had set her mind firmly on becoming a model. She knew what she wanted to achieve and was positive that she would reach her goal. By radiating a distinct positive message, she attracted the talent scout to the supermarket at a time he was looking around for a “new face”. By maintaining focus on her goals, she remained at the top of her profession and avoided the negative influences which were all around her.

Do you live an intentional life or do you wait for coincidences? Do you live your life as a series of accidents or are you in control?
